Me & My Perfect Timing
Couple years ago I finally buy a minidisc recorder and Apple comes out with the iPod about five weeks later.
This past week I won two eBay auctions for MP3 players and now this:
Think Secret - Mini iPods, major iLife update focus of upcoming Expo keynote
Reliable sources inside and outside of Apple have confirmed Apple will announce the new pocket-size iPods in a number of capacities and in various colors, including stripes. Capacities will be 2 and 4GB -- meaning users could store some 400 and 800 songs, respectively. Prices will start at around $100US, Think Secret has learned. It is not known if the new product line will be available immediately after introduction.
Great timing. Anyone wanna buy a new MP3 player for about $55? :-(

I was at a party this past weekend where the host was running all the music off an iPod. It was hooked to an equalizer and speakers and kicking out the songs effortlessly.
Hmm. Think I have some people in mind...
Don't worry Ronn, you won't want it as soon as it comes out anyway. It'll suck at first - it always does. (LOL) That sounded like it could have various meanings.
But Bernie, yeah since the first set of slimmer iPods, lots of DJs have also been hooking them up to mixers instead of carrying around heavy crates of records, or books and books of CDs. Just put 4000 songs on one and 4000 songs on another - and you'll never have problems figuring out what to mix.
what I can't wait for is when they find a way to enable djs to spin back and scratch, like the mixman player does for PC mp3s.
Bernie: I would love to go to a party and let the DJ use my iPod for all the music. Even the smallest capacity version has more than enough music for an entire nite.
ej: I'm just going to give one to my baby, keep the other and wait to see if these rumors are true.
Lynne: You too much girl! ;-) I know what you meant. Besides wanting a powerbook, I really need a new desktop. So no matter what, I won't be getting a 4-gen iPod. No matter how inexpensive and small it is. I'll see after it's updated and bugs/issues are taken care of some time in the spring.
tell me more, tell me more about the player please!!!
Ren, et al: I guess I should have listed the players that I won--
Sony NE509 and
RioVolt SP90.
Guess I'll just buy a mini-iPod in the Spring (if Apple releases one).
Well, that would be something. Wow. Apple never ceases to amaze me. Sorry about your timing, on the other hand... :-(
PatCH: Sympathy gets me nowhere. Now, how 'bout buying one of these here MP3 players?! ;-)
Stop worrying about yout MP3 players, and go have yourself a merry, merry Christmas, Ron! :-)
I tend to be slow when it comes to new technology. I bought a mini-disc player for my birthday this year and I totally love it. Sure, I know I should get an iPod one of these days but I will hold out. I think the mini-disc is an underrated technology. Call me a dinosaur.
No, but the pocket-size iPod sounds nice!
PatCH: I am over the Holidays and in MacWorld Daze. Can't help but think about Jan 8th and all the goodies to come. New Year's Eve is just another day for me.
RL: I'm mos def getting a mini-iPod. I'll wait till Feb/Mar to get one. I gave one of the MP3 players to "Chewie," and will resell the second one (which I just got today). Sulie would be thrilled to get a mini-iPod for her bday.
Daddy Jazz: Dinosaur! Nah, j/k. If it suits your needs, don't worry about it. I just want the greater usability of an iPod, even a mini version.
m: Welcome, and, guess we'll all see whether or not the minis are just rumors or reality.
Thanks bro! I finally get my DSL rebate check and am waiting on MWSF 2004 news like a ho' at the free clinic reading test results. :-(
I may have to just splurge and get a 3-gen 10gb iPod once a potential client signs up. It would help if I could
sell one of my recently won MP3 players. *hint* *hint*
