She Calls It Work!
Watching and listening to Nancy Wilson at Avery Fisher Hall last night was heaven. I never really was a fan of Wilson's; more because I don't recall ever listening to her music. OK, it's really because of her negative comments about hiphop more than a decade ago (on the Arsenio Hall Show). She blew me away during a 2+hour performance. Owen and I really, really enjoyed the show.
I wish she would perform with Jimmy Scott who she's called a big influence and fabulous. I agree. While she's no Ella, I did get the chance to see a true diva at work.

Nancy gives a great show. I will miss not seeing her here around Valentine's Day. I saw her twice last year and was thoroughly thrilled. Hey, don't hate for though I am not a hip-hop fan, I do respect it as an art form. I would love to see her perform with Jimmy Scott as well. That would be quite a show.
Sounds great Ronn, will she be in town for a while doing other performances?
James:
Lucky you! Nancy mos def worked it the other night. To see her twice in one year is a blessing.
Ray:
Unfortunately, it was a single performance. She said she's "in the winter" of her life and won't perform that much. She is currently working on two CDs, one which will be titled "RSVP: Rare Songs, Very Personal."
Her scatting duet/duel with John B. Williams on the bass was one of the many highlights of the evening.
She and Ramsey Lewis each performed for their first time at the Monterey Jazz Festival last year. I had read that she was going to be doing less touring and spending more time with her family which makes every time seeing her even more special.
